…sophisticated, urban, but with a laid-back vibe

So you're looking for an urban lifestyle, but you don't want heavy traffic or high rent. Sound too good to be true? Then it's probably Lakewood. Made up of seven or eight smaller 'hoods, it's close enough to Dallas for a "city fix," yet just far enough away to relax.

Home to the locally iconic Lakewood Theater, the popular Botanical Gardens and the historic Dixie House Cafe, this area also offers trendy restaurants and wine culture, like Kitchen 1924 and The Wine Therapist, neighborhood bars and cafes.

Developed and built in the early to mid-20th century, housing in Lakewood is as eclectic as the funky shops that line the street. You'll find apartments, duplexes, cottages, starter homes, Tudors, Craftsman, and even Mediterranean-style houses. That's probably why families and professionals gravitate to the area.

When the outdoors calls, head to the western shore of White Rock Lake. Ask any cyclist or runner…it's just right.

Imagine…urban life and nature, too.
