I have to admit, I’m a first timer at the Inwood. And I also have to admit the fact that there is a full-service cocktail lounge steps away spurred my interest. My friend and I saw Starting Out in the Evening which was a bitter sweet drama of a one-time exalted novelist trying to write his way back to the top. I found myself feeling sorry for the aging writer and admiring the ambition of the grad student. It made me wonder about my own “life work” – what is it? Then I started to go down a very sad bath.
Anyway, the movie was good (1 ½ thumbs up– it missed the other ½ because of the tailspin it created) and the martini was glorious (2 thumbs up). I loved the 1940s décor and the eclectic ambiance – at times I felt like I was part of my own intricately orchestrated movie (who am I kidding I feel like that everywhere I go). No really, the Inwood Theatre in North Dallas is a wonderfully inviting sanctuary for movie goers and martini drinkers alike. And if you’re a night owl (and who isn’t?) swing by for Midnight Madness (try something wholesome for once)…kind of feels like a little NYC in our very on DFW.
