Farmers Branch

…what's in a name?

It's been a while since this was a farming and agricultural center, but Farmers Branch still cultivates the same sensible balance of work and leisure as did the first American settlers here.

Because it's the oldest settlement in Dallas County, there's not much new housing, but you'll get a real sense of community, family and ancestry in places like the 22-acre Farmers Branch Historical Park, and with events like the Arts in the Park concerts and the Christmas Tree Lighting ceremony.

What's really great is that Farmers Branch is sitting pretty in the midst of the bustling Dallas Metroplex where malls, museums, sports and DFW Airport are only a few minutes' drive on the highway. Farmers Branch apartments rent to folks who appreciate the proximity to employment.

This area's been in the news and will probably remain so—it's the first city whose council passed anti-immigration measures that include fines for landlords that rent to illegal aliens. And up next? There's a provision to make English this town's official language.

This city's gone from a landscape of farms to a thriving hub in sync with the buzz of Dallas.
