Established on what was once plantation land, East Fort Worth is made up of the small communities of Handley, Meadowbrook and Woodhaven. Housing here ranges from charming, mid-20th century and vintage cottages to grand, modern homes.

Though you'll find various amenities in each area, like your typical big-box store here and the Woodhaven Country Club and Golf Course there, most of the attention is currently spent on developing the historic center of Handley, where a once-bustling holiday resort called Lake Erie attracted visitors from surrounding areas.

By the mid-20th century, the man-made Lake Erie went the way of its streetcars and became part of the larger Lake Arlington where residents now take advantage of lazy days by fishing, boating, studying nature and wildlife.

It's all here, with the added attraction of downtown Fort Worth and Dallas within reach.
