Downtown Dallas

Send to a friend

…recipient of an extreme makeover

At one point in time, downtown Dallas was the so-so stepsister of the much more compelling DFW area; it was plain, practical and the only function it really served was to provide a place for people to go to work.

Then the 1970s and '80s hit, and the Dallas skyline transformed dramatically, taking on a new, distinctly modern look that was heavily influenced by the nation’s most prominent architects.

Within the last few years, the scene has gotten a totally new coat of polish with the refurbishment of Main Street, the addition of clean, safe public rail transportation, the creation of One Arts Plaza and the development of the Trinity River Corridor—a huge park that'll have trails and lakes and equestrian activities, among other recreation ops. Plus big biz is right at home here, too.

Check out the high-rise lofts and condominiums that are now available…and dig into the new, improved urban Dallas.

The current look for downtown? Definitely a sharp-dressed success.
