Contestants brought a canned good or non-perishable food item (for a local Manitou Springs food bank) and their own fruitcake for entry into the toss. Interestingly enough…the fruitcake was required to contain glaceed fruits, nuts and flour (nothing inedible).
They were not taste tested however there were “Fruitcake Toss Tech Inspectors” on hand to ensure fruitcake quality. It’s serious. There were weight restrictions placed on weight classes, standard (2 lbs) and heavy weight (4 lbs). Seriously? 4 lbs? That’s gross. I don’t even want to know what ingredients were involved.
Let’s get to the actual launch…people could use devices (restrictions apply of course) but the FC could only be hurled 260 ft. I can only image what devices were used prior to the stipulation smack-down. The residents of Manitou Springs are serious about their toss. They even created competition categories such as People’s Choice and Accuracy with Targets allowing everyone a shot at champion status.
Did ya miss it? Don’t worry being that it’s annual you can enter next year right about this time.
