Saigon Café has the most wonderful Vietnamese food in Colorado Springs and maybe Denver too. My foray into Vietnamese food was at a restaurant located in the Far East Market area on Federal Blvd in Denver, supposedly one of the best authentic Vietnamese restaurants in Denver. That restaurant was quite good, fairly large and packed. There was a line just to get a table. However, this little gem in Colorado Springs was quite memorable too, perhaps more.
Saigon Cafe was pretty busy for an evening, as my impression was it would be a pretty hoppin' lunch spot. The tables were mostly full, so we opted to sit at the bar by ourselves rather than at the table in front of the entrance. It was a good choice because we were able to catch some election coverage on the TV as well.
As usual I had the beef pho. The flavor of the broth was just perfect. The lemongrass was not overbearing, which I find it to be at many spots. My friend had a noodle bowl. He ate the whole thing, and it was huge, so it must have been great.
Located downtown, it is the perfect spot to grab dinner before a movie. That’s what we did before seeing There Will Be Blood at the Twin Peak Theatre. Good thing too, because the film is almost three hours long!
