The four Poor Richard's businesses are some of the most unique spots for dining and shopping in all of Colorado Springs. This complex of shops houses a book store, toy store, a health-conscious eatery, and Rico's coffee chocolate and wine bar.
Poor Richard's Bookstore has an excellent selection of both new and used books, and does also operate on a buy and trade basis. Browsing their vast selection is a perfect way to spend time, while waiting for your order from Poor Richard's Restaurant. The food here is fresh, fast, and healthy. The pizza is some of the best in the city, and the restaurant offers the options to add a variety of delicious toppings, and to select whole wheat crust. The house salad is fantastic, and Poor Richard's home-made dressing is to die for. Also sold by the bottle, this tasty balsamic vinaigrette is worth the trip in itself.
The restaurant also has a kid's play area, and is attached to Little Richard's Toy Store, another shop in the complex. This fun spot has a great selection of unique toys and games, as well as my fave, a huge array of stuffed animals.
Your last stop in this great complex should be Rico's Coffee, Chocolate, and Wine Bar. This fun, swanky spot has great coffee, tapas, and desserts. Stop by for happy hours and enjoy a glass of wine, listen to some live jazz, all while gazing at artwork by local artists.
