Look to the east, and the entire landscape of Colorado Springs stretches out before you. Look to the west and the Rockies loom around and above. These mountainside houses weren't built for just anyone—this part of town is also home to high-tech companies like MCI, Hewlett-Packard and Intel. You get the picture, right? You need to bring home a big briefcase—or at least know someone who does—in order to come home to such gorgeous views at night.

Still, these dream homes can be a reality due to the relative affordability of Colorado Springs. Then, you too can be hiking and biking in Ute Valley Park, picnicking at the nearby Garden of the Gods and enjoying Northwest Colorado’s general fabulousness.

Marigold Café and Bakery has been earning a name for itself over the past few years. It used to be a well kept secret for those in the know, but the word is out now, and I’m glad because I like supporting locally owned businesses over the nasty chains that have infiltrated my neighborhood.
