South Loop…live-work-learn-play, all within a few blocks

For those who want to have it all and do it all, the South Loop is the place to be. It’s a little raw—kind of edgy—but that’s also what makes it cool.

You’ll see old warehouses that have been converted into loft-style apartments and condos, pockets of single-family townhomes and new construction everywhere. Residents here are the kind who want the convenience of living close to the Loop, where many of them work, yet still want a neighborhood with an identity all its own.

Check out locally owned bars and restaurants that have been in business for years, then visit well-known and independent newcomers. Most new commercial space is bustling within a few days. During the school year, Columbia College and the Art Institute of Chicago provide a steady stream of new students who are curious to explore the neighborhood and try out new places.

FYI…the South Loop can keep even chronic couch potatoes busy. With several museums, the planetarium and aquarium nearby, as well as Soldier Field, Grant Park, McCormick Place, plus the Loop’s nightlife, neighborhood bars, world-class shopping and dining, you probably won’t need cable.
