…sittin’ pretty

Just north of Independence Park, Mayfair sits in the northwest area of Chicago, along west Irving Park Road and near Ravenswood Gardens.

Though it’s not a hugely popular ‘hood with young professionals, students or other groups that tend to create a “buzz,” it’s a gorgeous neighborhood with more than 100 architecturally-significant bungalows and well-constructed homes. It’s because of these that the area was officially designated a Historic District in 2005.

Because of its low profile and distance from the Loop (somewhere between 15 and 35 minutes, depending on your choice of transportation), rents and home prices here are pretty reasonable. But with the Blue Line, buses, a Metra commuter rail station and the Kennedy Expressway all nearby, you can head to the hotter spots of the city (and beyond) in no time. You’ll get a lot for your money, plus you’ll be close to the La Bagh Woods Forest Preserve, picturesque Gompers Park, the river, a vast array of dining options and tons of shops and retail in surrounding ’hoods.

So while you may have to do a little song and dance to bring your friends out here, once they arrive, their jaws will drop at the look and size of your space. And who knows? With you lookin’ so good in Mayfair, it won’t be long until those friends become your new neighbors.
