…one of America’s first ’burbs

Want to walk to the boutique, bar or brunch? Candler Park prides itself on being a walkable and liveable ’hood.

When conjuring thoughts of a historic, quaint and diverse Atlanta town, most Atlantans think of Inman Park, but Candler Park (which is equally charming) is actually older. One of Atlanta’s first ’burbs founded in 1890.

There are plenty of homes with interesting gingerbread paint jobs (think San Francisco’s painted ladies) in this woodsy residential ’hood. Just five minutes east of downtown and south of Ponce de Leon Avenue, the area also offers Candler Park and Golf Course and Lake Claire Park.

Independent retailers—from auto care to dog grooming—thrive in Candler Park. The Composition Gallery offers fine art and even provides space for locals to showcase their work.

When hunger strikes, the hit the Radial Café, where you can feast on Lemon Ricotta Pancakes or Pepper & Parmesan Grits during weekend brunch. After indulging, you can walk it off on your stroll home.
