Nestled between Lake Acworth and Lake Allatoona, Acworth offers small-town life just 35 miles from the big city and its pleasures.

Tree-lined streets and quaint southern homes give a nod to this ’hood’s deep roots. Acworth’s Main Street is part of the original Dixie Highway, or the “granddaddy of I-75,” the first interstate to reach into the south.

Incorporated in 1840, Acworth was once a prosperous railroad town, and today, the residents are committed to preserving the past in the downtown historic district. A variety of shops (including independent retailers and restaurants serving anything from ice cream to Creole cuisine) pepper the historic district, where the warm and inviting merchants represent Acworth’s friendly folks.

If you’d rather be fishing than shopping, you’re in the right place. The lakes afford plenty of outdoor opps, including boating, camping and swimming. Twelve tranquil parks provide family fun and plenty of spots for picnicking. Golf more your style? Head to Cobblestone Golf Course, which garnered the top spot on Golf Digest’s list of public courses in Georgia.
